The online education marketplace has exploded in the last two or three years, with short courses on everything from astronomy to zoology being offered by websites such as www.coursea.org. Making a decision as to what to study can be a headache in itself, as can finding courses in your preferred language. Even then, how do you know the course is right for you, or even useful?
Yalla put the question to Ahmed Al-Shagra one of the founders of www.nadrus.com. We asked why Iraqis choose NADRUS over other platforms that also offer courses in Arabic. He replied “Arabic websites currently available, such as IDRAK or RWAQ, are good and they deliver academic knowledge across a broad range of subjects, but what we concentrate on and offer to learners at NADRUS is qualified skills for the employment market. The learner cannot get this easily everywhere.”
Iraqi engineer Al-Shagra, currently living in Jordanian capital Amman, elaborates on the specific courses and instructors offered through NADRUS. “We ensure that our courses are practical and those who teach them have experience in their specialties. The photography course is taught by a professional photographer and the sales skills course is taught by an expert practicing in the field for many years. Course participants can practice what they learn in the course straight away, and start their private projects or improve their work opportunities in the companies.”
The platform also provides job opportunities for qualified people who can develop courses in their specialties, enabling skilled professionals in the Arab world to deliver their courses in Arabic to a wider audience.
