EgyptAir Flight Missing Over Mediterranean
At least five merchant ships have joined the search for EygptAit flight MS804, with the carrier due to give a press conference at about 2:30pm Iraq time.
The plane disappeared from radar at 3:30am and two Iraqis are confirmed to have been on board. AFP quotes an unnamed source as saying, “At around 0029 GMT (3:29 am) when it was in Egyptian airspace, the plane disappeared from Greek radars… it crashed around 130 nautical miles off the island of Karpathos.”
56 passengers and 10 crew were on board the flight from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport to Cairo.
French Prime Minister Manuel Valls says “no theory can be ruled out”, but there are no indications as to why the plane has disappeared.
