Makhmour, Nineveh Province, Iraq. March 29 2016
Following the liberation of the villages of Karbandan, Karmadi and Kidaila between 24 and 26 March, approximately 1,900 people were rescued by Iraqi Security Forces and the Kurdish Peshmerga and taken to Makhmour. They remain in a youth centre that has been repurposed as a transit centre as aid agencies plan their next steps. Press were requested not to publish the faces of the temporary residents of centre, as many have family remaining in areas under the control of ISIL.
